Queens Lake Volunteering

Volunteering is the heart of any thriving community. When individuals give their time and talents, they bring people together, strengthen connections, and make a real difference in the lives of others. Volunteers make everything better—they help create events, support important projects, and build the sense of belonging that makes our community special. Every contribution, big or small, adds value and helps make QLCA a more vibrant, welcoming place for all. Thank you to all who volunteer—you are the reason we continue to grow and thrive. If you are interested in volunteering, please see the opportunitites below.

Past Volunteers

Spotlight on volunteers in the neighborhood.

Melody Wynne

Where are you from? Williamsburg, VA
When did you move into Queens Lake? July 2023
What do you like most about the neighborhood? Gorgeous views and water amenities, very friendly neighbors and children, and thoughtful, organized events/activities
What areas of QL have you volunteered and what drives you to be an active volunteer? I have organized the “Moms of Queens Lake” club to bring moms and kids together and I most recently organized the 2024 Trunk or Treat. While I grew up outside of QL, I knew many QL kids and I always envied the connection they had because of their neighborhood. I hope that by being active in this neighborhood, my children will also be able to grow up with life long friends and amazing memories.

Chris hager

Chris Hager has been a life long resident of Queens Lake moving here in 1968. He has been very involved over the years and served on various committees including the lake committee, Marina committee, finance committee and running the fishing tournament for Queens Lake Day for multiple years. He believes in giving more than you take and leaving the world a better place than you found it. Chris especially loves the marina and water access that Queens Lake community affords us as well as the traditionally friendly people and volunteer base. Thanks for all you do, Chris.

Danette Askew

A big shout out to Danette Askew who stepped up to lead the 2025 Queens Lake Day activities without hesitation( okay maybe a little). I wanted to recognzie Danette for her hard work, leadership, diligence and grace in organizing our 62nd annual Queens Lake Day themed Summer Vibes. She may be one of the most organized people I have ever met and that made planning and executing this event so much easier.
Danette and her husband Sean (QLCA President) have only lived in QL a few years and have done so much for our community in their short time as residents. Thank you Danette for stepping up for this task and leading us all into a wonderful community celebration.

Let's add your name to the list!!

This group is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the landscaping in all common areas not overseen by other committees. From planting seasonal flowers to improving community green spaces, the committee works to keep our neighborhood inviting, vibrant, and well cared for. Beyond tending to the grounds, the committee also encourages all residents to take pride in their surroundings and join in the effort to keep Queens Lake beautiful. Queens Lake Day

Planning starts January
Queens Lake Day is the signature event of our community—a special weekend that brings neighbors together for fun, family activities, and shared memories. Held each year at the Queens Lake recreation areas, this festive celebration is open to all Queens Lake residents and is a highlight of our community calendar.
From games and entertainment to food and family-friendly activities, there’s something for everyone. To make it all happen, we need volunteers to help plan and coordinate the many events, including someone to serve as the Chair for Queens Lake Day. Whether you have a little time or a lot, your support makes this beloved tradition possible—and even more memorable for everyone!
